How to Make Affirmations Work
We have all heard about affirmations yes?
The book and film The Secret which was about the Law of Attraction made a big thing about them.
But what are they exactly and what is the best way to make them work?
One description of them is that Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes.
But I am sure you have heard many people say that they tried this and they didn’t work?
I know I have!
Well, let’s take a little look at the brain for a second.
The brain is made up of 2 parts – the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
The conscious mind reacts to the here and now whereas the subconscious mind is where all your memories are stored. The conscious mind looks to your subconscious mind to give it the right answer when needed and listens to its advice without fail.
Have you ever had a nagging doubt or a little voice in your head saying something like “ No, you can’t do that”? Well, this is coming from your subconscious mind. It very quickly weighs up what you are about to do or think and runs it through your memories looking for examples of how you may have dealt with this kind of situation before. Because it exists to keep you safe it will try to prevent you from doing anything out of the ordinary, scary, challenging, or new!
That is the nagging doubt or little voice. Think about a time that you have experienced this.
It is very good at talking you out of things, isn’t it?
So, with positive affirmations, you are trying to overcome thoughts or feelings that have negatively impacted your life before. As a result, your subconscious mind will nearly always win and you remain stuck where you are. You then carry on with life and complain that affirmations do not work!
So, let’s look at how to make affirmations work.
You have to make your subconscious mind believe that what you desire is already in your life.
A positive affirmation would be something like “I possess the qualities to be extremely successful”.
However, your subconscious mind plants thoughts in your mind like “how can you, you never have before!” or “of course you haven’t”. This then makes you doubt yourself and you go off about your day and at some later point, you go back to saying negative comments about life or yourself. This then negates the positive affirmation and you are back to square one.
Your subconscious mind does this because it wants to keep you in an even state which it sees is more beneficial for your longevity. This, however, just means you achieve nothing and end up on your death bed wishing you had taken the opportunities which came your way.
This is how it goes for the majority of people in the world.

So, let’s do something which works.
Factor into your day just 3 short sessions where you say, over and over “Wealth – Success”. The best times are when you have just woken up, just before you go to sleep and one other time during the day. You must do this every day.
Whilst you are saying these 2 powerful words imagine what life will be like when you have the thing you desire. You have to think as if you already have it.
The reason these 2 words work is because they do not allow your subconscious mind to question your own ability. There is no conflict. You are simply plugging into the real power in all of us.
