The word meditation simply is defined as to be in a continuous contemplative thought or to simply just think about doing something. We all have numerous amounts of stress in our lives. Some of us our stressed out over a job, or relationship, children ,or if you are like most of us you are stressed over finances. Taking the time to learn how to relieve stress by meditation by learning how to meditate will help reduce the stress you are feeling. I have learned that worrying about what is stressing you will not help solve the situation that is upsetting you. In fact worrying about it will actually make it worse.
You may think that taking time out of your already busy life to meditate is ridiculous. But if you take the time to meditate, it will absolutely help calm your nerves and reduce your fear, which will help you relax enough to sit down and calmly work out the situation that is upsetting you.
Where to Meditate?
You can meditate just about anywhere. One of the important things to do is to find somewhere comfortable to sit, where you won’t be interrupted. You can do this in bed, but you stand the chance of falling asleep. It is preferable to sit in a comfortable chair, to lessen the chance of falling asleep. Some people prefer meditating outside in the presence of nature, or while relaxing in a warm bubble bath. There is no right of wrong way, just find somewhere that works for you.
When to meditate?
The best time of day to meditate is first thing in the morning. Wake up slightly earlier than you usually do and set some time to meditate before you start your busy day. It is a lot easier to meditate first thing in the day, rather than having to try and find time in an already busy day.
A lot of people also like to finish the day with a quick meditation, to help quieten the mind and set yourself up for a lovely relaxing deep sleep, without the usually mental chatter.
How To Meditate
If There are numerous things that can happen during the day that can cause you stress, the kids are arguing, your boss is in a bad mood, you’ve missed your bus, got a flat tyre. You cannot stop these things happening, but you can change how you deal with them.

As soon as you become aware of a stressful situation, an excellent way of stopping the stress for intensifying and getting out of control, you can do breathing exercises to help relax you. Simply close your eyes if it is safe for you to do so & take a few long deep breaths. While deep breathing you can imagine the situation as an image getting smaller and smaller, until it completely disappears. Another way of dealing with stress instantly is to think of something that makes you truly happy. It is not possible to have a negative thought and a positive thought at the same time, so if you are thinking of something positive, you are not thinking negatively.
Taking a few minutes getting your thoughts together when feeling stressed makes all the difference in the world to you. It actually cuts the stress dead. Slowing your breathing down, stops your body instantly going into panic mode. Breathe in and out slowly and take time to think about what options you have to control the situation that has upset you. Sometimes this is all that it takes to get on top of your stress. It is an excellent coping strategy that you will find very useful in numerous situations that you come across in life.
When you first started meditating, you might find it very difficult to quieten your numerous thoughts. An excellent tool that was very useful to me, that I still use to this day is the Zen 12 meditation. There is the choice of listening to either the guided meditation, or just the meditation music.
You can start by listening to the guided meditation giving you the structure needed to help get started with meditation. When you no longer need that structure, you can use the non-guided meditation music. I like to recommend things that I found useful myself, to help you, if needed.

Find a way to meditate that will work for you. You will see that even if you only meditate for a few minutes that will be a few minutes you don’t have to worry about things, or make the situation worse than it actually is.
The internet is an excellent source of meditation information and relaxation techniques. You can find meditation books to buy, watch videos on meditation or visit a mediation website to gain more information and tips.
Meditation is a lifelong skill that will enhance your life on so many levels. You will find yourself less affected by stresses and daily pressures and a lot more able to deal with them. See meditation as a release valve for getting rid of emotions and thoughts that are not beneficial for you.
